"...having the the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you..."

Ephesians 1:18

In your walk with Christ, how far you go and how successful your walk with Christ is, is determined by three things. 

1.Your heart, in other words, your heartset. Your mind will filter what is allowed into your heart. Ephesians 1:18 shows the importance of your heartset. 

2. Your mindset. Basically, as the mind goes, so goes your life in Christ. 

3. Your faith. Your faith and the level of your unbelief is determined by your heart and your mindset. 

Our mind is the gateway to the heart. This is true regardless of what enters our mind. 

Three Levels of Thought/Revelation

There are three levels of thought we can have. These levels will directly determine how deep and far you develop in Christ. These levels will also determine your level of obedience to Christ as well. It will determine your level of being able to hear God and receiving the creative ideas you receive from Him.
Yet, there's one common denominator with all three levels. All three levels must be accompanied with action...doing what God instructs us to do.

The Carnal Mind

Level I is the carnal mind.  The carnal mind is described in Romans 8:7; "the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be."  This level of thought is accessible to anyone.  This is also called the natural mind.

Within this level, you can access your imagination, intuition, subconscious mind.  You can also access your creative processes to think, create and build.  Every idea imaginable to God, has been put out in the atmosphere waiting to be discovered.  Thus you have brilliant minds, like Edison and Einstein, who lead us into creation and discovery.

Yet, it is at this level, where there is no relationship or an immature relationship with God.  You can see in 1 Corinthians 2:14, that "the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of  God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

You may have an awareness of "something out there", "God is there" or of an "infinite intelligence".  But awareness doesn't include relationship.  This is because the natural, carnal or sinful mind is actually and enemy of Godand opposes Him (Romans 8:7).

It's at this level where false doctrines and religions are birthed. 

It's at this level where you may ask "did God really say?". Also it's at this level where sinful acts and thoughts are also birthed.

It's here, at the carnal mind, where the five roots of fear; intimidation, lower level focus, self-preservation, unholy agreements and helplessness are nourished and allowed to grow.

It's also at this level of thought, where many professing Christians remain. If you are at this level, you have limited Biblical and Spiritual understanding.

You would be thinking mostly from logic and reason instead of faith. You would have more of a tendency to live your life according to your circumstances. You would also often be clothed with fear.

But, there is hope. God loves you and doesn't want you to be living in fear. You can see in scripture that God is love and "there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love" (1 John 4:8).

You can attain a certain level of transformation and success at this level but it's very limited.
